Leakage and corrosion on vessel windows
A total of 58 windows were repaired across the accommodation and wheelhouse areas. The Wencon solution proved highly versatile, effectively handling diverse leakage and corrosion challenges.
The Solution
Surface Preparation
Standardized surface preparation was carried out by blasting to ensure optimal adhesion and coating performance
Cleaning
The window surfaces were thoroughly cleaned using Wencon Cleaner to remove salt, grease, and other contaminants.
Damage Repair
The depth of corrosion around the window frames required careful application of Wencon Rapid using a brush to ensure full contact with the metal surface, especially in corners and narrow gaps.
Using a spatula, the damaged areas around the windows were rebuilt layer by layer to restore their original shape and strength. Wencon Rapid, with its excellent adhesion and metal-like properties, proved highly effective in rebuilding the corroded window frames.
Corrosion Protection
To protect the restored window frames from future corrosion, a two-layer system of Wencon Coating was applied.
The first layer was brushed on, followed by a second layer to ensure long-term protection against oil, water, saltwater, and other aggressive substances commonly found in the marine environment.
Final curing and Finish
The corroded contact surface around the window was rebuilt to its original shape and fully restored to ensure proper sealing and functionality.
Vessel Windows restored
A total of 58 windows across the accommodation and wheelhouse were successfully repaired using Wencon products. The standardized repair process — including blasting, cleaning with BIO Cleaner, and systematic application of Wencon Rapid, Putty, and Coating ensured consistent quality and long-lasting protection.
With precise control of material usage the project achieved proven effectiveness and minimal waste, demonstrating both technical reliability and cost efficiency.
