Seawater filter strainer

Rebuilding of Seawater Filter Strainer

In this case we are rebuilding and coating a seawater strainer filter that was heavily corroded.

The challenge

A heavily damaged casing

A seawater filter strainer is used to filter out debris and contaminants from seawater before it enters a ship’s cooling or ballast system, ensuring smooth operation of critical equipment.

Over time, exposure to seawater can cause corrosion in the filter housing, leading to leaks and reduced efficiency.

By applying Wencon Coating, you can prevent future corrosion, protect the metal surface, and extend the lifespan of the filter, ensuring reliable performance in harsh marine environments.

The outcome

The housing ready for years to come

All surfaces, with possible seawater contact, are now protected by 1000 microns of Wencon Coating. It will take seawater 12-15 years to penetrate, the
epoxy layers. The housings are now ready for many years of service life, without any risk of attack from bimetallic
corrosion.
